It was so nice getting an extra wink of sleep especially now that it stays dark a little longer.
Shane doesn’t like us to get too much sleep and began the morning “whine alarm” at 5:45. There is no way anyone can stay in bed with all that noise. I get up and get the little “whiner” out of the room otherwise Ted would have to get out of bed as well. We went for a 5.25 mile run. Great morning to be out there. I had enough in me to run double time but since I need some running legs for tomorrows 10K in the Triathlon, thought I’d better hold back.
In lieu of the very mild (and I do mean VERY MILD otherwise I wouldn’t run) sensation in my left foot, I ordered Pro-Tec Athletics Metatarsal Pads.
I’ll see if these offer any additional protection for my next long run. Metatarsals are the long bones in your foot.
The pads offer the following:
CoolMax® covered pad fits right on your shoe insole and stays put so you get nothing but comfort during every run. Actually prevents over-movement of metatarsals so the ball of your foot is pain-free.
- Support pad that fits under the forefoot to relieve pain
- Provides small, comfortable lift under ball of foot or metatarsal arch
- CoolMax® cover: Comfortable & wicks moisture. Stays in desired position on top of insole
- Injuries treated: Bursitis, Morton’s Neuroma (Irritated nerve endings/numbness), fallen Metatarsal arch, ball of foot pain
Since I have high arches, these might be a good choice for precautionary plus protection.
I got home, had my big egg omelet and made a cake.
Bridge Cake:
The cake is a 10” rich chocolate cake with a cherry – vanilla wash.
It is filled with a dark chocolate mousse, topped with sweet cherries.
The frosting is butter cream.
Happy Birthday and Good Bridge Games wished for you, Bonnie’s Dad!
Movies: “Date Night”
This movie didn’t get the best review but Ted and I enjoyed it. It was about a couple falling into the typical routines of life, marriage, and kids. They become more “best friends” than lovers. In an attempt to rekindle the flame, they go for a night out in the City. The night out leads to more than expected with plenty of funny scenes and lines along the way.
It was a funny movie. Steve Carell and Tina Fey work really well together.
Last night when Ted, Richard, and I went out to dinner, we were asked if we had reservations. We said no, after all, in Utica, you don’t make reservations unless you have a huge dinner party. But on this particular night, at this particular restaurant, you DID NEED A RESERVATION. The host said …”Sorry, all filled up”. Ted and I contemplated doing the “Date Night Reservation Steal” . Ah well, we are not that adventurous and ended up eating at the bar instead.

Joanne,
My, you do get up early! I have a hard time waking up before seven. I admire your dedication to many things…it is evident that you get up early to accomplish all that you do! And the cake is adorable! I love the thought of sweet cherries underneath all that frosting. Yum!
That cake is so neat! Great job on the details.
I am kind of excited to see Date Night.
Love the cake! And the insole. I’ve got to start wearing insoles.
